The Basalt-Mile
The Basalt Mile is part of the GeoRoute Tertiär – Industrie - Erlebnis Stöffel Route. This GeoRoute and Wäller Tour lead through the Stöffel Park and the nearby Nister Valley. Along the hiking trail, numerous GeoStations describe the Stöffel Quarry and the processing of basalt.
The Basalt Mile consists of four information points focused on the topic of basalt processing. Visitors are taken through the journey of the basalt block, from the processing steps all the way to the production of gravel.
At the information points, the impressive exhibits from the Stöffel Quarry are explained, and their functions are introduced.
There’s also something exciting for children to discover. Basti Basalt explains the special features of basalt extraction at Stöffel at audio stations.
